Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about finding Pokémon GO friends by Vivillon pattern.

Is VivillonFinder an official Pokémon GO app?+

No. VivillonFinder is an independent fan project built by trainers, for trainers. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nintendo, Niantic, The Pokémon Company, Game Freak or Creatures Inc.

How do I know which Vivillon pattern I have?+

Open your Pokédex in Pokémon GO and look up Vivillon (or Scatterbug/Spewpa). Your pattern is determined by the real-world region your account is registered to, and it's shown right there in-game.

Is VivillonFinder free to use?+

Yes, completely. Browsing listings, sharing your own friend code and using the map are all free, with no account required to search.

Why can't I find any trainers with a specific pattern?+

Some patterns are rarer simply because fewer Pokémon GO accounts are registered in those regions. Check back regularly — new listings are added all the time — or share your own pattern so trainers looking for it can find you.

Is it safe to share my friend code here?+

Friend codes are meant to be shared publicly to add friends in Pokémon GO, so posting yours is safe. Never share private information like your real name, address or phone number — see our community rules for details.

Someone is misusing my friend code or harassing me. What do I do?+

Use the report button on the listing in question, or reach out via the contact page. We review every report and remove listings that break our community rules.

How often are the active trainer counts updated?+

Counts on the homepage, the map and the pattern pages reflect currently active listings in real time — they update automatically whenever a trainer adds, pauses or removes their listing.

Can I delete my listing, or change my friend code?+

VivillonFinder doesn't use accounts, so there's nothing to log into — your listing is just the details you posted directly. Want it removed? Use the report button on your listing or contact us and we'll take it down. To change your friend code itself, that happens entirely inside Pokémon GO: open your Friends list and tap the reset icon (two circular arrows) next to your name to get a new one.
